On Thursday, February 2nd STM will host our first Winter Carnival to celebrate winter, outdoor play, and la Francophonie!

The purpose of this event is to give students a chance to experience a real traditional French cultural activity as they spend a couple of hours outside, rotating between stations with activities such as the Wooden Spoon Relay, Bobsleigh Races, and Potato Sack Races. Each station will have a French name and encourage students to use and practice some key French words to add an element of authentic learning and fun with the language.

Kindergarten to Grade 2: The Carnival will run in the morning for students, followed by a snow themed movie in the gym in the afternoon.

Grades 3,4,5 will watch a snow themed movie in the gym in the morning and enjoy the carnival in the afternoon.

Grade 6 students will participate all day as they will lead in running the stations and the groups.

Staff will supervise all activities. Thanks to our French teachers for organizing what promises to be a fun-filled day!

(If the weather doesn't cooperate because it is too icy or too cold we have set aside a rain date, Friday, February 17th).
