SNOW Day Dismissal Procedure

posted Dec 8, 2019, 6:08 PM by Tania Gamache

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Winter has arrived! Please review the following protocol for snow days (when bus and small vehicle transportation is cancelled)

WALKING STUDENTS:

In the event of bus or small vehicle cancellations due to inclement weather, parents are asked to notify the school of absences for "walking students". It is very important that parents call (613-739-7131) or email (thomas.more@ocsb.ca) the school to indicate absences for walking students related to snow days.

Junior students, who walk home from school 'without their parents' on a regular school day, will be dismissed to walk home alone from the foyer. Please notify the main office and your child's teacher, if permission is NOT granted, for junior students to walk home alone on snow days.

For walking students, who attend Extended Day Programming (EDP), parents are required to report any absences to BOTH the school and the EDP program on snow days.

STUDENTS USING BUS TRANSPORTATION:

For students, who regularly travel on the bus, absences will be automatically noted due to the cancellation of bus transportation. Parents are not required to contact the school to report the absence for students, who travel on the bus.

Please note: On snow days, all students will be dismissed from the foyer of the school. All students will be in the foyer at 2:50pm, sitting in the designated areas of the foyer (as outlined on this MAP). Please go to these designated areas to pick up your child from the classroom educator. This NEW organization for dismissal from the foyer will ensure student safety and offer a more efficient pick-up at the end of the snow day for parents/guardians.

Thank you!

Your continued support and cooperation are greatly appreciated.

Ms. Gotell, Mrs. Gamache and Mrs. Martin
