Let us pray:

God of Love, peace, and unity, we thank you for welcoming us all just as we are; for making us equal as your children from all corners of the earth; and for giving us your blessings as your children; and making us belong.

We pray that you help us realize that we are all made in your image, and we need to bring peace to all your creation as one people who belong to you. We ask this in your Holy name. Amen

Principal Message

Dear Wolfpack, I want you all to know that we had a very smooth return to in-person learning this past week that included snowshoeing for our students and lots of outdoor winter play. Our wolves have also started their ‘Brave’ self-awareness conversations on Anti-racism in support of Black History month. Don’t forget to follow us @ThomasMoreOCSB to get a glimpse of all the learnings taking place at STM.

Next week teachers will be sending parents sledding permission slips for our students to use ‘Crazy Carpets’ during their outdoor Physical Education times  only.

This year we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day by wearing pink/red on Friday, February 12th. We will not be allowed to bring in any items or have any card exchanges as per OPH  guidelines. Our teachers are coming up with some creative ways to celebrate Valentine’s day in their classrooms.

Thank you to all of our families and students for continuing to keep our school safe. A special thank you to all of our grade 1-3 students for adapting so quickly to wearing their masks at school. It is recommended for your child to bring a spare mask just in case the one they are wearing gets wet from playing outside.  At STM our staff know that there will be different levels of anxiety among students, staff and parents. Rest assured that everyone is doing  their part by following the guidelines from OPH. Thank you  parents and staff for being that calming presence for our students.

Please continue to use the OPH’s daily screening tool each and every morning for your children. The screening tool will inform you if your children are well enough to be in school. We will be following the same OPH protocols outlined in the screening tool in the event that we need to contact parents if a student presents with COVID symptoms. We will continue to monitor runny noses due to cold weather recesses before making any calls to parents.

Yours in Education,

Chris Risto

Looking Ahead

*French as a Second Language FSL pathway selection for Grade 3 and      Grade 6 Parents

In February comes the time for parents of Grades 3 and 6 students to select the FSL pathway that they feel would best meet their child’s needs for Grade 4 and Grade 7.  Usually, information is sent to parents in the first term Report Card envelope. Since it is now distributed via the Parent Portal, the FSL Pathways package will be shared digitally to parents.  Parents will complete a form online to enroll their child in the pathway of their choice. Each school will then have a spreadsheet with all information gathered in one spot.  The school will email you  the links to the FSL documents shortly. Stay tuned

* Term 1 Report Cards will be available for parents to access on Friday, February 18th via the Parent Portal.

The purpose of  STEAM week is to encourage K-12 students to explore careers in STEAM by providing some fun engaging activities for students and staff. Each day follows the theme from STEAM (ie. Monday is Science, Tuesday is Technology, Engineering is Wednesday, etc.)
