Supporting the Shepherds of Good Hope during Advent

posted Nov 26, 2017, 4:16 PM by Michelle McGarry
Students from STM will be involved in a community project to experience the act of giving to the less fortunate. The Shepherds of Good Hope run a “Shoebox Program” for the homeless, who live or go to the shelter for Christmas dinner.

Each person, who goes to the shelter is given a wrapped shoebox, with a Christmas card attached. Inside the shoebox are items that they can use or consume.

This year we are asking that each grade level focus on a different item to ensure our shoeboxes are fully stocked.
We are seeking our community's support for the following items:
Grade 6- mitts or gloves
Grade 5 - hats and toques
Grade 4 - socks and hand lotion
Grade 3 - deodorant, bar of soap, small shampoo
Grade 2 - toothpaste and toothbrush
Grade 1 - treats such as chocolates, mints or gum
Kindergarten - decks of cards or small notepad and pen

***All students are encouraged to bring in an empty shoebox.

We will be collecting items starting Nov. 29 to Dec. 17th.

We will collect all items and then fill the shoeboxes so that each gift has the same variety and amount. The shoeboxes will then be wrapped. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and support with our Advent project. Thank you for being the "light of Christ" to those in need.
A special thank you goes out to our Social Justice Club, who have taken on this project and are very excited to start organizing it all. We appreciate your continued participation and support!
