Let us pray:

Prayer to Begin Black History Month

Lord, we pray in honour of Black History Month. May we join together in appreciation and respect for all Black People in our Church, local and global society who make an impact on our lives. Thank you for their gifts and talents that are many, unique and inspiring. Whether it is Saint Augustine; three African popes; numerous Black bishops and priests; or any other members of our community, we see and feel God working through their contributions and our relationships. St. Josephine Bakhita, St. Martin de Porres of Peru, and Sts. Perpetua and Felicity showed supreme kindness, charity, and love. May their example guide us each day. We pray for their intercession.  Amen

Principal Message

Dear Wolfpack families, we welcome the news that our students that have selected in-person learning will be returning to school on Monday, February 1st. Our Virtual Academy Wolfpack students will continue as usual with their online learning.

Our school routines that have been put in place in September will continue. Our staggered entry starts at 8:15 am -until 8:30 am at your child’s designated door to enter the school. Dismissal times will also remain the same with pick up starting at 2:45 pm until 3:00 pm. Please remember to give yourself some extra time to establish your morning routines by  walking-a-block as no parents are allowed to park in the staff parking for the safety of our students. We would appreciate that all students be in their classes for 8:30am as teachers will be starting their attendance.  Please see the quick list of reminders for your children for our February 1st, return to school.

  1. Please use the OPH’s daily screening tool each and every morning. The screening tool will inform you if your children are well enough to be in school. We will be following the same OPH protocols outlined in the screening tool in the event that we need to contact parents if a student presents with COVID symptoms. We will continue to monitor runny noses due to cold weather recesses before making any calls to parents.

  2. NEW!- All students in grades 1-6 at STM will need to wear a non-medical or medical grade mask. Face shields do not replace the wearing of masks. If you want your child to wear a face shield that is permitted but the child must also wear their mask at the same time. Kindergarten aged students are recommended to wear masks. The office will have extra masks in the event that students forget to bring them on Monday.

  3. OSTA - All students from grades 1 to 12 will be required to wear a face mask (cloth or medical), and students in Kindergarten are recommended to wear a mask, on all vehicles, including school buses, vans and wheelchair buses.  Please note that a neck warmer or scarf is not considered an appropriate face mask on board vehicles.

  4. If your child has a medical condition that does not allow them to wear a mask, or special needs that make mask-wearing difficult, please advise the school principal chris.risto@ocsb.ca and OSTA,(the Operator.) We appreciate your continued efforts to keep students and our drivers and staff safe.

  5. Loaner Devices- for those families that received a loaner device for remote learning, please send them with your child on Monday, February 1st. We have loaned out over 100 devices and will need to check them off as returned and sanitized before we can place them back in the classes for student learning. Administration will go to each class on Monday morning to collect all the devices.

  6. Don’t forget to bring your indoor shoes and to dress for the weather

  7. For more information on the return to school please see our OCSB Parent Communication that was sent out earlier this week.

We look forward to welcoming all of our Wolfpack staff and students back for in person learning. See everyone Monday and have a safe weekend.

Yours in Education,

Chris Risto
